What Will Influence Your Vote?
By Lauren Altman and Quinn Wojcik
Queen City Forum Magazine writers
Welcome to Survey on the Square. It is a regular part of “the Podium,” where we take it to the streets to find what the composition of the voices of Cincinnati are though your thoughts, ideas, and perceptions and combine it your thoughts at home.
In this edition, we focused on the coming presidential election and what will be influencing your vote. We went around to different parts of the city in an attempt to gain your political sentiments just three months from what many are calling the most important election of our time. Here’s what we found:
Eric Doolin, age 24 stated that he “felt the Country really dropped the ball on the last election, Bush stole the election and now there is a lot of miss-trust with the administration. “ Eric continues that, “mistrust in Bush, his bad foreign policies and the way (Bush) has alienated other nations,” will be the main events from the last four years that will influence his vote in the upcoming election.
Jessica Crawec, 21 from Montgomery exclaimed that she feels her vote is much more important than she once thought, “the votes were so close the last time I really can make a difference voting, my vote does count!”
Mike Walsh, 21 from Montgomery thinks, “the popular vote should count more than the electoral,” and, “ I would like to see the green party in this election.”
Candice Gee, 21 from Hyde Park tells us, “ I’ve become more involved politically over the last four years; I think Bush lies.”
Brian Shrive says the issues that will influence him to vote for Bush this election are: “(Economic) up-swing after Clinton’s recession, and the way the Democrats are holding judicial Nominees.”
Kelly Ernst from White Oak says the “the Green Party is taking away votes (from the democrats) but they have every right to have a party.”
What do you think? We want to hear your comments on these issues!
