Politics It's not a "black thing"
by Brent Gray

As the primary election emerged towards its conclusion, Black radio station ads promoting Ken Blackwell asked for our vote to elect him the next and first African American Governor in the state of Ohio. This message rang out like a stray bullet from a drive by shooting.

A Special Bid of Farewell on Havdalah
by Brian L. Meyers

The poignancy of Havdalah this week was closing one chapter on some very special relationships. Saying goodbye to our friends, knowing that even as they hop into cars for distant places, we already miss them and imagine fantastic schemes to pop in at Texas or Australia or Rochester, New York, for a quick weekend to say hello. ( Australia?)

At the Mic: That Clooney Thing
by Brian Meyers

George told a funny. At the Golden Globes. Two months ago. I was thinking about it today. Ok, so I’m slow. But, check this: In his acceptance speech for receiving the award for best supporting actor for “Good Night, Good Luck”, Clooney made light of Abramoff’s name in reference to a base sexually self-gratifying operation, and apparently, people close to the discredited lobbyist were offended.

At the Mic: Reform: Engagement and Change
by Dr. Harry Fry, M.D.

It was imperative that health care providers, especially nurses and physicians, take leadership in creating that transformation – as individuals, in groups, through their professional organizations and in collaboration. Even more, the public needed to become involved; for the public is served by, ultimately funds, and can judge the system.

At the Mic: Atheletes Role Modeling
by Marc Beechuk

Is the percentage of celebrity arrests more than that of the average population? If not, why does the public make such a big deal out of the mishaps? Nearly everyone has done something they aren’t proud of, yet when someone popular commits a similar act the entire incident is blown out of proportion.

At the Mic: The Jew-atholic View of Xmas
by D.S. Meyers

Now, from the same people who were offended by the phrase “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance, comes “Let’s take the word ‘Christmas’ out of the equation.” Apparently, anything that has the word Christ in it is offensive.

At the Mic: Who Wants to Be a Patsy? by Chris St. Charles

"So I guess that’s it, eh? I’m sure the administration will take full responsibility for the mass hysteria, riots and the 17 dead in Afghanistan and exonerate Newsweek magazine, right? I’m not much of a betting man, but I wager that the usual spin will ensue instead."
