Dinner and… Breakfast? (Ahem); Why Krings is Out
By Leslie Ghiz

What are Pat DeWine and Phil Heimlich thinking about in firing David Krings?

I'm not sure, but I can certainly venture a guess.  First, County
Administrators and City Managers are sort of like football coaches.  It is never good to have them on staff for too long, less they get too
comfortable, and every once in a while, things need to be shaken up.  I really believe that the tenure of a County Administrator or City Manager should be no longer than about 7 years.  When you get beyond that, real change never happens.

The contract that Krings was given a few years ago was deplorable, great for Mr. Krings, but awful for the taxpayers.  It never should have been granted to a public employee.  When I heard about it, I was floored.  Phil Heimlich was very vocal about the employment contract being terrible when he was first elected.  My best guess is that Pat and Phil felt that the county needed a change, that they would ultimately have to buy him out anyway (per the contract), so it was better to do that sooner than later.  I really don't think it has anything to do with his performance.

Whether this was a good idea, we'll have to wait and see.  It will depend on who they can get to take the job, what the ultimate salary for this person will be and what happens inside the administration.

What is the best date restaurant short list for Cincinnati ?

You are assuming of course that I go on dates!  My favorites:  Slim's in
Northside (you can take your own alcohol in and the atmosphere is nice). Jean-Ro's on Vine (the happening place these days, not too pricey, the food is fantastic, and it is impressive). Nicola's on Sycamore--great lighting, good food mix-italian and seafood, and it's in OTR.

Jeans dates? Teller's in Hyde Park . Carol's on Main .

Next morning breakfast (of course, I never have these)? Echo restaurant on Edwards in Hyde Park or Price Hill Chili on Glenway.

What is the collaborative agreement all about? What is George W. Bush proposing for medicare? What is Leslie’s favorite food or restaurant? What is her favorite sport? Who is her hero? Local labor and employment attorney Leslie Ghiz is a woman about town. She is in touch with the social life, the political life and professional life, young and established, in Cincinnati . She is also a young prospect in the Republican Party. The sum of all this is that she has some opinions and if you ask, she will undoubtedly answer.
